ABOUT DIVISION

 

EMEA Channels & Streaming includes 3 regional businesses based on Amsterdam, Warsaw and Johannesburg, an EMEA digital team based in London and the Out of Home division, also based in London, and responsible globally for partnerships with Airlines, Cruise operators and Commercial premises. The Channels business is a portfolio of BBC brands operating as linear services for Pay TV partners across EMEA with the Streaming division covering digital products such as FAST and BBC branded video on demand products across the EMEA region.


THE ROLE
  • To be the leader across EMEA drawing all lines of business for the full portfolio of EMEA branded products and operational workflows together to understand current and future requirements and ways of working to be able to optimise effective and efficient delivery against our budgets and long-range plans  
  • Operate with a business performance and enterprise solution outlook to drive improvements and deliver solutions in how we are set up, how we operate and how we execute, to support our business growth plans and drive better performances  
  • Provide leadership on programme management for EMEA 
  • Being the single point of contact and owner in EMEA for interactions with Global Operations, Technology and Product teams across the Global Markets & Streaming division and the wider Studios org, ensuring alignment and joined-up thinking
  • Bring a deeper level of understanding and awareness of the Technology and Operations roadmap and deliverables into key stakeholders and business areas of EMEA, aligning roadmaps and maximising benefits of enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Operations leader across EMEA to ensure the portfolio of products and supporting workflows are set up and appropriately maintained to maximise performance 
  • Single authoritative point of contact in and out of EMEA business areas (including our Regions) for Global Operations and other parts of BBC Studios (Compliance, Creative, Technology etc) to liaise with on Operational delivering organisational solutions aspects to operational challenges owning a prioritised list of asks, sized by business value for all EMEA branded services (channels and FAST)
  • Work closely with the regions and business owners to understand their requirements that will drive maximum performance on existing products and workflows
  • Help identify gaps across the wider organization (process, products, people) and be able to communicate these areas to both the business owners and Global Ops teams in order to prioritize and plan for process improvements and/or broader wholesale solutions
  • Manage our existing operations & technology needs by being the voice representing EMEA into the rest of the BBCS business
  • Working with Operations & Technology key stakeholders on a regular basis to understand their deliverables, roadmaps and priorities that have a direct impact on the EMEA business from an operations & performance basis 
  • Represents EMEA branded services on project steering groups, giving informed direction on decisions with impacts
  • Accountable for holistically managing the program of new business work across EMEA, ensuring clarity and transparency of latest commercial plans/opportunities across EMEA for operational teams as well as ensuring project management is effectively employed to deliver individual initiatives
  • Work closely with the Project Management teams to ensure projects are scoped clearly for the business needs (at a holistic / 360 solutions level) and progress in a timely manner, remain on track and are being managed appropriately  
  • Constantly seeking improvements and make recommendations to the business for optimizing our product and process performance 
  • Be aware of short-term business needs (financial performance & targets) and the importance of longer-term planning and investment for growth.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

Key Criteria:

  • Significant experience in media, broadcast / digital technology and content operations 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, working to specific deadlines
  • Collaborative work approach and the ability to develop effective relationships
  • Proven experience in negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Stakeholder management - able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders 
  • Able to prioritise and manage time effectively including managing deadlines and conflicting demands and using initiative to resolve day-to-day problems.
